Why Puppy Training Is Important

Puppy training is important because it shapes how your dog thinks and behaves for the rest of its life. Early lessons teach clear communication, build confidence, and prevent habits that are hard to fix later, like nipping, jumping, and pulling on the leash. With a simple plan for house training, crate comfort, recall, and calm settling, your puppy learns what earns rewards and what to ignore. Good socialization also reduces fear and reactivity by introducing new people, dogs, sounds, and places in a safe way. Start early and you get a dog that listens, handles daily life with ease, and fits your family’s routine.

Available Formats For Puppy Training

  • Day Training one on one, trainer led sessions during the day that comes with a short overview and pointers for owner practice
  • Board and Train Jump Start for a stronger foundation in a shorter time, plus included follow-up lessons so you can keep results going

  • Private Lessons at the facility or in home for fast feedback and tailored guidance
  • Group Classes for puppies to practice manners and focus around other dogs, with coached socialization and real life distractions

What To Bring To A Puppy Lesson

To make your puppy session smooth and productive:

  • Bring the collar or harness your puppy normally wears.
  • Make sure your pup is extra hungry – food motivation makes learning more fun!
  • If your puppy has favorite treats, we recommend you bring some of those with you. We always have a variety for them to choose from at the lesson as well.
  • A favorite toy is optional, but if it gets your puppy excited, feel free to bring it along.

Puppy Training FAQs

It’s never too early! Puppies can start basic training and socialization as soon as they’ve had their first vaccinations (usually around 8–12 weeks). Early training builds good habits, strengthens your bond, and sets your dog up for success.

We require all dogs working with us to be up to date on DHPP (Parvo), Bordatella, and Rabies vaccinations. The only exception is for puppies that are too young for vaccination. We take this seriously to protect all dogs in our care from contagious conditions.
